what was my life like before the pandemic? i slept in rooms with 5 to 11 other people. i slept with ear plugs in and my clothes hung up around me. i lived from a cabin size suitcase and off only £500 a month. i loved to inspire people so often wouldn’t show the way i slept or talk about the little money i made. sometimes the way i hid so much of myself online would get to me. on the bad days i would feel annoyed at people who thought i was rich and lived in luxury. this photo was taken on one of those days a couple weeks before i had to leave australia because their borders were closing. i had a lot of people saying they wish they had my life but invalidating my experience at the same time acting as if i had to be rich to do it. i wasn’t rich. i would eat food that was leftover from other travellers on the FREE FOOD shelf and wear clothes left by travellers in the dorm rooms. i was able to live off very little and (most of the time) i felt very happy doing so! community living is not expensive and can be very fun. do you think you could live in hostels?
