Added 2021-11-16 09:33:41 +0000 UTCgood morning ☀️ it’s a bed day for me! yesterday was very strange. for a while i’ve been feeling unbalanced and tired but the last few days it got so bad i couldn’t enjoy even a short walk outside without feeling like i might fall over. i rung the NHS help line and was connected with someone who’s first language wasn’t english. i think there was a big mis-communication from this point and they sent me to a hospital to be covid tested (i didn’t realise this until i got there). when i got there i said i don’t have covid and i’m not here for covid but they wouldn’t listen. they told me to get tested then come back to the reception after. i had paid a lot for the taxi there and although totally afraid to go through the scary covid warning doors (lots of big red writing) i thought i would regret not finding out what was wrong with me. i ended up in a room divided by plastic sheets with elderly people who have covid being cared for. eventually when they realised i didn’t have covid they sent an english speaking person to me “why are you here?!” i burst out crying and said i think there’s been a huge miscommunication! “i don’t have covid and i’m not here for covid” “i’m just feeling very unbalanced and wanted to see a doctor about it” after a while sitting by myself wondering what was happening they told me to sit in a wheelchair in the hallway and they would move me to the next place. i watched out the window people being wheeled on beds and waited awkwardly in my chair. eventually i was moved to another area. the hospital was overflowing with people. they had to move people in beds around just to let others get through. i was put in a room full of people with drips in their hands. this scared me - i just wanted some medication and to go home! i was afraid if it got any later i wouldn’t be able to get a taxi back to the town i came from. hours since i got to the hospital they finally found a translator and sat me in a doctors room where they did some checks. the doctor said “90% of the time what you’re experiencing is caused by an ear infection” so i was given a prescription and told to collect the medication from the pharmacy over the road. i grabbed the meds and head back home to bed! i’m not feeling better today but i should be better in a week 😩 all i can think is that it was from swimming in a hostel pool at the start of my trip as i’ve been feeling a little wobbly since i got here… i usually avoid hostel swimming pools as hostels for some odd reason don’t seem to clean as well as hotels/airbnbs. i never understand that - why do we allow them to be less clean just because they’re cheaper? after all, they’re cheaper because of the room sharing not due to a lack of cleanliness 👎🏼 so that’s me 😂 i’ll be in bed all day today resting 🧡
